The Holland Blog needs your help! Can somebody identify this suspect?
The video surveillance is showing the suspect as he trespasses the LaMountain Farm. The rest of the video will be released once the suspect who is accused of vandalizing farm property is identified. The suspect is probably living on Amber Road or somewhere close to Amber Brook.

Missing Your Tax Bill?
Fiscal Year 2010 Tax Bills were mailed on November 5th and are due December 7th. A number of tax bills have been returned to the Town Hall. Burglary in Holland
Shortly after 6 am this morning, the house of 65 year old Richard Talbot on 6 Cove Road in Holland was burglarized. Mr. Talbot returned home to find a window broken and his door kicked-in. Mr. Talbot occasionally helps Dave at the Holland Market to carry newspapers into the building early Sunday mornings and has his morning coffee there at the Holland Market. A large sum of money was missing after the burglary. The door was damaged to the point that it broke the hinges of the door. The State Police are investigating.Peter Frei

Sparky found a canoe
Sparky found this canoe floating in the lake. If it is your canoe, you can pick it up at 109 Sandy Beach Road in Holland. The canoe is a Gazette Canoe and was spotted this morning floating in the cove opposite Sparky’s house.

Chimney Fire on Lake Drive
For one house owner Friday the 13th, the third and final one this year, brought bad luck. Around 13:35 hours the chimney in the grey house shown in the picture cut on fire and members of the Holland and Brimfield Fire Department prevented the worst.
Beside the fire engine shown, three fire fighters arrived on the scene in their private cars equipped with emergency lights.

New Rule
Earlier today a commenter accused a town official of breaking the law without specifying what law the accused official allegedly broke or is breaking. From now on comments accusing anybody of breaking the law without specifying M.G.L. chapter and section, or MCR section, will be moved to the trash bin. If a commenter is launching such a serious allegation he better knows what he is talking about and is able to specify the alleged violation. The Holland Blog only requests from commenters the same standards as it applies to itself.Peter Frei

Society’s obsession with sex.
I did get an anonymous phone call after I posted the comment defending Lamountain about having consensual sex with a teenager two weeks short of her 16th birthday. The (female?) caller seems to be upset that In my opinion LaMountain’s five year jail sentence didn’t fit the crime. The caller said that I’m as bad as James LaMountain. I can live with that, I prefer to be as bad as James LaMountain, I would object to being compared with individuals like Earl Johnson, James Wettlaufer, or many other town officials as James LaMountain doesn’t steal and/or lie, (remember Kevin Gleason?, or “Johnson-Landgate?”).

Not many people do know that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the United States Supreme Court suggested in her report “Sex Bias in the U.S. Code,” to lower the age of consent from 16 years to 12, and did so 32 years ago! If I look at some of the 16 year old teenagers, they don’t look like children in need of protection to me. To me they seem to know what they want and are old enough to decide for themselves.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg made the suggestion to lower the age of consent to 12 years on page 102 in her report to the United States Commission on Civil Rights. The Holland Blog received another anonymous letter with two pictures (only one is shown as they are almost identical) by mail about irregularities in the Highway Department of our town. Brian Johnson is our elected Highway Superintendent and son of one of our elected selectmen, Earl Johnson. The Department is under the control of Brian Johnson. Time to celebrate.....The Holland Blog went online for the first time at 13:30 hours on Saturday February 14, 2009. Today, the Holland Blog was viewed 100,000 times (page views or hits). The page view count 100,000 originated at IP number 72.200.170.131, which is an IP number signed up with ISP Cox Communications that uses Cable/DSL connections out of Stafford Springs.
